By combining technical solutions Asker has built the swimming pool facilities of the future. Holmen swimming pool is not only saving electricity – photovoltaics also ensures production of electricity. In the winter of 2016 it was decided that the project should be included as a FutureBuilt pilot project, because of its ambitious environmental goals.

Holmen swimming pool has a great location in a popular recreation area by the beach. The building has a green roof which is accessible to the public and where the solar panels can be observed close up. The project´s total greenhouse gas emissions are reduced by 50 percent compared to a tailored reference building.
The swimming pool is a leading example of energy saving technology and one of the most energy effective swimming pools in Norway. The energy solutions include a total of 650 m² solar panels on the building´s roof and the south façade; about 650 m² solar hot water panels under the parking lot; 15 geothermal wells, recycling of heat from grey water; and heat recycling from the ventilation system.
Low-carbon concrete class B has been used throughout the building.
